Utd Pumas 7
Clacton Utd Blues 0
This
week the Pumas took on club rivals Clacton Utd Blues in the 2nd round of the
league Cup. The Blues started the better side with most of the early
exchanges, but failed to trouble Pumas Keeper Connor Ibbotson. Pumas then
started to get a grip of the game, going close on several occasions before
Daniel Pearson's slide rule pass put Chad Russell in the clear who neatly finished in the bottom corner. Nicky Poole
made it 2-0 before Jason Tilbury smashed home for 3-0 right on half
time. Pumas pretty much dominated the 2nd half seeing inform striker Ben
Austin score another hat-trick to extend the lead to 6-0, then Evan Brown put
Pumas in 7th Heaven volleying in from 20yrds. M-O-M went to Daniel
Pearson for a good all round display.

Oakley
Blues 5 Lexden Saints reds 1 -
Weston & Taylor at the double.... Oakley took on Lexden
reds in this league cup encounter on a bitterly cold morning. Kicking off
against a very strong wind Oakley struggled to keep the ball on the ground and
this was allowing Lexden to have more of the possession than was comfortable,
however after ten minutes Dan Taylor steadied any nerves with a cool finish
through the keepers legs, however instead of capitalising Oakley allowed Lexden
to get back in the game, with day equalising with a cool finish past the
helpless Cairns. The wind was allowing Lexden to attack with long balls over
the Oakley defence however Knight and lewis
marshalled them well and they weathered the storm with Weston finishing coolly
to regain the lead for Oakley. Further chances fell to Selwyn and Duly as well
as Taylor. Second half and Oakley attacked with the wind but managed also to
play the ball to feet and this soon paid dividends with man of the match Jack
Abbott and Kioussis carving Lexden open on the left, unselfish play from Weston
allowed Taylor to score again and Weston completed his brace soon after .
Oakley were now in control and Palmer, now forming a good partnership with Sewlyn in Midfield found Johnson, he ran 30 yards and
unleashed a shoot which the lexden keeper could not
hold and the scoring ended 5 - 1 to Oakley. Again a thank to Colin Young for
running the line and nice to see Jamie Davies , Liam
Duly and Dale Roberts getting back to form after injuries. Home to Brooklands
next week 10.00 kick off.
Lexden
Saints Blues 8 Stanway Villa 0
Playing
Stanway for the second week running and the third time this year, Lexden made a
few changes to the side and set-up as they ran out easy winners in this cup
game.
With the wind whistling around the pitch the
first bite of winter meant that both teams were out of the blocks quickly, if
only to keep warm. Stanway took the game
to Lexden and ran for every ball but couldn’t really get going as the minutes
ticked away.
Playing an attacking formation Lexden looked
dangerous and took the lead early on when Luc Williams put Deasko Garner in on
the right. He ghosted past the defender
and attacked the box. The keeper
advanced but he shot across him into the far corner to make it 1-0.
It was 2-0 after ten minutes when Williams
clipped in a corner from the right and Josh Harrison rose to head down inside
the six yard box. The covering defender
couldn’t keep it out and it struck the top of the net.
This soon became 3-0 when Harrison latched
onto a through ball down the centre. He
ran into the box and finished down low to the keepers right for the ball to
settle into the corner.
Stanway continued to chase but Lexden were
moving the ball around confidently and were looking strong going forward. The defence was solid and the midfield with
Harry Webb, Aaron Boots and Ed Field as the centre axis both industrious and
creative.
Field rasped a drive past the post on sixteen
minutes, but the fourth arrived on eighteen when a lovely flowing move from the
back ended in a finish by Field. The
ball was played through Lewis Axcell and Aaron Boots up to Callum McClean. He turned
on the edge of the box on the left and laid it back to Field. His incisive one-two with Williams allowed
him to drive past the defender and finish past the on-rushing keeper; 4-0.
Lexden continued to probe and it was 5-0
after twenty five minutes when Garner went past the defenders again on the
right and pulled the ball back from close to the bye-line. The advancing Field banged it high into the
net over the keepers head giving him no chance.
Wholesale changes both in personnel and the
positional sense meant that Lexden were experimenting but this did not stop the
continuous attacking stance. On the
thirty fourth minute Field split the defence and Elliot Lamb playing up front
powered through and shot past the keeper to make it 6-0.
The seventh almost came when Ben Gallifant
took a long throw deep inside the Stanway half and Lamb rose at the near
post. His flicked header bounced down
off the far post and away. The respite
was only minor as it became 7-0 shortly after.
Harrison tucked it away from on the line for his hat-trick when the
keeper made misjudged a cross from the right from Ryan Chambers. He left it thinking it was to go out for a
goal-kick but the ball clipped the bottom of the post and looped up for
Harrison to apply the final touch.
The changes continued as Lexden used their
full rota and it was 8-0 in the forty sixth minute when Williams again found a
Saints player from a corner. This time
Callum McClean rose unmarked at the near post and his
header whistled across the line.
The game continued with Lexden hitting the
post when set up by Leo Reid. His run
down the left and cut-back found Field in space. He rounded the keeper but the angle just beat
him as he clipped the post.
Harrison almost took his tally to four after
fifty six minutes but was thwarted by the keeper down low. Stanway then hit back and a shot was dived upon with relish by Ben Phillips deputising in
goal. Axcell shot over after fifty eight
minutes but the game was over and finished ending as it was 8-0.

Oakley 2
This was not
going to be a day for passing football, with the wind blowling
a gale acroos the Rush Green Pitches, Without there
1st choice centre half pairing of Bedford and Cook Oakley went with Sam Good
and Sean Mathurin and to there credit both had outstanding games along with
full backs Chris White and Ell Hurry. Clacton never really bothered the superb
Sam Cowler in the Oakley goal, but thats because the young keeper is
so good at his job he makes it look easy.
Jack Burkett
gave Oakley the lead finishing well latching onto a Sean Mathurin through ball,
James Roots, Joss Neale, Alex Brand and Brad Knight work well as a midfield
unit snubbing out a large of Clacton's usual passing game, but after the break
with the introduction of Jamie Eades and Ben Hammond into the fray Oakley took
total control and scored a well taken headed second goal through Corey Bomando after great cross from James Roots. Special mention
must go to fitness and training coach Jamie Dobkin
who has done a great job with the boys keep up the good work Jamie D
