Match Reports

Under 10's Andrews Blue league

Lt Oakley 0 Col Villa 4

A top of league clash between Little Oakley and Colchester Villa. The game started well with some good football from both teams.

Villa took the lead with a well taken long range shot, that went into the top corner. Oakley were unable to take their chances in front of goal with a string of good saves from the Villa keeper. Villa were awarded a penalty with a challenge that result in the keeper injuring his hand.

Oakley were now chasing the game with a new keeper and 2 goals down. With more injuries coming in the first half Oakley had to make forced changes to the team.

Oakley battled on well with players playing in unfamiliar positions and were unlucky to go into half time chasing the game 3-0 down.

With the Oakley regrouped and a feeding of jafa cakes, they started to put the passing game together and chasing the ball.

Tyler Sullivan and Adam Brown played well in their new roles, as defender and keeper. Jack Murray, Brandon Manning and Franky Selwyn in the midfield put some great passing moves together to release Liam Clacket. Oakley were unlucky not to pull a goal back, once again the Villa Keeper kept Oakley at bay.

With Oakley pressing forward and playing better football. Oakley were caught on the break, Villa added one more goal after a goal mouth scrabble that was not cleared.

Man of the Match Adam Brown

Team Adam Brown, Nathan Southgate, Mathew Smith, Jack Murry, Tyler Sullivan, Brandon Manning, Franky Selwyn, Liam Clacket, Callum Mallet.

Under 14's Essex County Rosser cup round 4

Little Oakley Blues 4 Brentwood Youth FC 1

Jacob Kioussis capped a man of the match performance with the goal of the season, a dipping first time shot from 40 yards which gave the keeper no chance. Going into this game without leading Scorer Dan Taylor against quality opposition was not a good start and Oakley's nerves soon showed as they held off and gave the opposition too much respect and soon fell behind to a sloppy gaol, this seemed to spur Oakley on and finally they got their passing game together and Weston finished off a superb move involving Selwyn Abbot and heath, one all at half time. The second half saw Oakley play with the wind at their backs and this seemed to tire the Brentwood side , who despite their lofty position found Oakley the much fitter side, and Oakley attacked in droves , Kioussis found the net with a free kick , Jack Selwyn finished the scoring off with a thunderbolt from 20 yards to put Oakley into the the last 16 for the second successive year.

Stansted Mountfitchet 1 Lexden Saints Blues 13

On an extremely wet and windy day with the roar of constant traffic in the background from the M11 and the boom of aircraft engine every forty seconds it was wonderful to be out in the countryside.

Playing an attacking formation the Saints were not to be cramped by the Posh Spice-like width of the pitch and were attacking early.  The Stansted defence was “robust” but not too mobile so were going to be tested by the pace of the Lexden attack.  Indeed it was 1-0 after three minutes when Deasko Garner opened the scoring when he cut inside and finished past the keeper.

Stansted hadn’t read the script and pulled it back to 1-1 with a well placed header from the corner on the right after five minutes.  Lexden responded with four corners in quick succession by Luc Williams which were all headed (seemingly unmarked) wide of the far post.  Giving such space may be open to question in two instances, but four was positively charitable, but then Christmas is fast approaching.

In the eighth minute Ed Field split the defence and Garner again ran on and skipped past the keeper to tuck it away into an empty net; 2-1.

Josh Harrison put the ball away after being cut back by garner but was adjudged offside by the quick-silver linesman; something of a routine given the tennis elbow which must have been incurred that day.  A night in the drop-in centre on a Sunday would not have been my idea of fun.  That or deep heat in any case.

It was 3-1 when Field put Harrison through and Alex Rutter made it four quickly after when he latched onto a long throw into the box and cleverly flicked the ball over his head and the keeper into the far post after twenty one minutes.

Trying and achieving fluent passing in the deteriorating conditions, Lexden continued to look dangerous coming forward and were putting the Stansted defence under constant pressure.  Williams tried the keeper from afar and he did well to claw it away, but it was soon five when Callum McClean drove the ball through a plethora of legs from a corner.

Ben Phillips in goal did well with a good shot-stop from outside the box when Stansted did have a chance with a one-on-one.  He beat it away and Lewis Bailey cleared to safety.

The second half brought a deluge when the heavens opened and all were soaked.  The pitch started to become a quagmire in the middle but the wings were still holding up.  The ball did travel well but footing on occasion was more akin to the Mersea Island mud run.

The scoring continued with regularity and it was 6-1 after the thirty third minute when Harrison took the ball through and finished past the keeper.  He got his hat-trick soon after when Elliot Lamb returned the ball from a corner and he drove it into the top of the net from eight yards; 7-1.

Harrison then took his tally in the game to four, and the team were 8-1 when he finished strongly after forty two minutes and he took a well earned rest.  The team were continuing to dominate and the midfield of Webb, Boots and Field continued to dominate whenever the ball fell in that central area.  A few changes on the wings, but still the team continued to press down the flanks at every opportunity.

It became 9-1 when the stand-in centre half Luc Williams banged one in from thirty five yards when he struck an unstoppable shot over the keepers head.  Everything was going the way of Lexden but Stansted to their credit kept going and were not gloomy like the weather.

Forty eight minutes came and it was 10-1 when Lamb shot but the keeper saved, only for it to fall to Garner who tucked it away for his hat-trick in the game.  Lewis Axcell shot from just inside the box in the fifty first minute but saw his effort cannon off the post across the goal to Rutter to slot it in for his second and the eleventh.

Twelve came when Leo Reid shot from the edge of the box and the keeper again did well with a parry to his right, but it fell invitingly for the Lexden player coming in and Lamb pushed it into the net.  This barrage continued with Axcell chipping the keeper from twenty five yards when the exhausted keeper could only parry the ball into the top of the net; 13-1.

It drew to a close and we all squelched back to our cars and turned the interiors into a reconstruction of the WW1 trenches.

Under 14's B division

Little Oakley Reds 3 FC Clacton 1
Oakley got off to another flying start with Jamie Partridge scoring after 5 Minutes, Oakley total dominated the game and scored again on 12 minutes after good inter play between Daryl May and Matt Summers, with May hitting a cross come shot that went in  the top corner. Oakley went three up when Charlie Eldridge belted the ball straight at the keeper, with the power taking beating the keeper. Clacton did have one chance in the half and unfortunately scored. Halftime 3-1. The second half saw the conditions worsen and also spoil the game, not allowing the ball to move freely. Oakley did create several chances but failed to score a Oli Freke chance going wide and a Rob Young header well saved, and with Clacton rarely venturing into the Oakley half the game was easily won.Man of the match Matt Summers

Under 15's A Division

Boxford Rovers 0 Lt Oakley 5

Looking for the eighth win in a row Oakley managers Larry Dobkin & Ross White kept faith with the same 11 that got the a great result last week. The game was played in monsoon conditions, the rain fell constantly for the whole 80 minutes of play.  Oakley dominated the game, but had to rely on the back four of Chris White, Lewis Cook, Ben Hammond and Ryan Lammond to stay focused Sam Cowler in goal made sure the team played a good tempo of football by commanding his team throughout the game. Oakley took the lead against the wind late in the 1st half the superb Lewis Cook heading home a James Roots corner.

The 2nd half with the wind was all about Lt Oakley goals from James Roots (2), the influential skipper Joss Neale and Jamie Eades wrapped up the game, This was a good all-round squad performance the front two of Jack Burkett and Cory Bomando who were not in the goals but there movement up top created space for the midfield to pile into, Subs Sam Good and Brad Knight had a run second half and done well, but as previously said well done the whole team you are looking a very good bet for honours this year.
