Little Oakley Blues 0 Tempest Blues 1
Little Oakley started the game defending very deep and tempest took full
advantage of this. Tempest played a very good passing game and had Oakley
on the back foot. Callum Mallett in the Oakley goal
kept the score level with a string of great saves.
Oakley
started the second half better and was starting to put a passing game together.
Oakley went for the win and changed the formation with only one
defender. This put more pressure on the Tempest goal. With the Oakley team
pressing forward.
Tempest
went on to score after a one on one with the keeper. Callum Mallett
making a superb save on the first attempt on goal but Tempest managed to slot

Utd Pumas 5 Concord
Rangers 1
The
Pumas continued to fly the flag for north Essex in the Essex County Cup this
week with a fine win over Concord Rangers from Canvey Island. The game
started with the visitors having slightly more possession, but they were unable
to make any scoring opportunities. The hosts the took control of the game
and Ben Austin headed home Chad Russells corner to
put the Pumas 1-0up, Russell then added a 2ND when Harry Johnson's shot
rebounded off the post to finish the 1st half 2-0 up. Five minutes after
the re-start Austin got his 2ND and Clactons third
and the home team looked comfortable. The move of the game saw Austins cross volleyed home at the back post by Nicky Poole
for the 4th. The visitors then grabbed a consolation but Clacton had the
last word when Austins maisey
run completed a fine all round display with his hat-trick. M-O-M went to Daniel
Davies. Pumas are now in the last 16 in Essex, the next rounds draw will
be live on Dream 100 this Saturday.

Cornard
Dynamos 0 Lexden Saints Blues 2
Kicking
off bright and early blew the cobwebs away even though it wasn’t as cold as the
day before. The pitch was in good
condition if a little narrow and Lexden were shooting up the slope in the first
half.
Cornard kept it tight but were undone early
in the 4th minute when Deasko Garner latched onto a long throw and
banged it over the keepers head from twelve yards; 1-0.
With a couple of positional changes on the
right, Lexden were looking to get down the flanks but needed to keep their
width. It was almost 2-0 after eight
minutes when a corner was headed in but the challenge on the keeper was too
strong and the free-kick was duly awarded.
Knocking the ball about with purpose they
continued to pressure but Cornard were finding their feet and positional sense
and started to make it difficult by winning a lot of second ball.
Lewis Axcell almost made it two when he shot
wide when well placed and Josh Harrison hit the upright with a header from a
Luc Williams cross. Continuing to work
hard Cornard were tackling well and keeping a high tempo which didn’t allow
Lexden to settle. They had a couple of
efforts in the latter part of the half and although not really causing a
problem they were still in with a shout when only one down.
Ed Field then made a bursting run after
thirty one minutes through the middle and drew the defence. He passed to the right but the resultant shot
from the right didn’t trouble the keeper and the chance went begging.
The half ended 1-0 with Cornard still in with
a shout and they took the opportunity to organise again. Lexden continued to work but were not finding
any opportunities as they have done in recent weeks, which was in the main down
to the constant work-rate of the Cornard team.
A couple of changes were made after sixty
minutes but the team continued to make heavy weather of it. Working hard in the middle of midfield,
Field, Harry Webb and Aaron Boots were passing purposefully but the creative
spark to unlock the defence was lacking from all.
In the fifty eighth minute a cracking drive
from twenty two yards out by Harry Webb after good work by Leo Reid and Ed
Field down the left was destined for the top corner but the Cornard keeper
dived athletically to his left and held on for an excellent save.
When the second came it was a fantastic
effort; Elliot Lamb came forward from the back to join the play and he hit an
unstoppable shot over the keeper from a good thirty five yards out which sealed
the win; 2-0.
Little Oakley Blues 5 Brooklands 2
Oakley ended up comfortably winning this game however had Will Cairns in Goal
to thank for keeping the score down when the visitors took the lead through the
impressive Miguel in the first 5 minutes, it looked like Brooklands might run
riot and ciarns made a string of impressive saves.
Oakley then started to get their game together and equalised through Weston who
is on a great scoring run. Solid midfield work from Selwyn
and Duly resulted in Taylor adding his first of his fine hat trick. Once
ahead Oakley continued to apply the pressure and looked comfortable, Jack
Palmer blasted in from a yard out to score his first in 2 years, the impressive
Taylor then ran onto a through ball from Selwyn and rounded the keeper for his
second and Oakley's fourth. Brooklands managed a late flurry and breached the
impressive defence of Heath Mack Davies and Kioussis once more to fray the
nerves a little but again popped up Taylor with a top drawer finish to leave brooklands deflated. A fine performance made all the
better because Oakley managed to turn the game around themselves when they had
not started brightly, showing that this team can be capable of great things.
Man on the match Will Cairns.
Brightlingsea Regents 0 –
4 Little Oakley Reds
The Brief before the game to the Oakley boys was to stop the two big
players that Regents need for all their play. Sam Warren and Tom Goldsmith
dealt with one, and a combination of Tom Kite and Shane Routledge frustrated
the other. Oakley soaked up early Regents pressure with the midfield
partnership of Jamie Partridge and Lewis Collins winning every thing, Oakley soon
took control. The first goal came on 10 minutes after Collins crossed in from
the left giving Oli Freke a simple tap in. The second followed two minutes
later from Charlie Eldridge who held off two defenders to score. Regents did
threaten occasionally But Jordan Bull in goal dealt with any shot easily and
Matthew Summers at left back looking comfortable. Oakley’s third was scored by
partridge when the ball fell to him on the edge of the box and as Jamie does
hit a shot the keeper couldn’t hold.In the second
half Regents had the wind with them and were more of a threat, but as with the
first half Oakley held their shape and cleared up any loose ball. Oakley’s
fourth came via good work between Daryl May and Robbie Young who put a lovely
ball through for Freke to chip the keeper. It was only Regents desperate
defending that prevented Oakley scoring more.Man of
the match Lewis Collins.

Little Oakley 3 Lexden Saints 2
With the bare 11 Oakley went into game on the back of
a string of good results, Oakley stormed into a three goal lead with goals from
Joss Neale, James Roots and Chris white, but to there credit Lexden led a
spirited fight back scoring two goals before half time.
The second half was nip and tuck and with the Oakley lads beginning to tire
Lexden were awarded a penalty late on, but once again the mercurial Oakley
keeper Sam Cowler dived full stretch to make a great
save, this result see's Oakley move into the top four
with games in hand
